Angry Codey
IOS & WATCH GAME
Role: Coder
Angry Cody is a real-time arcade dodge game for iOS and Apple Watch where players steer a boat through icy waters, collecting fish and escaping waves of increasingly aggressive Codeys. Built with SwiftUI, it runs a live physics loop at ~60fps using scheduled timers, with collision detection based on normalized coordinates and Pythagorean distance calculations that scale consistently across all iPhone sizes.
The game features five unlockable boats with unique abilities — including Ghost Mode, Focus (turbo), Double Haul, and Slo Start — and a persistent fish economy where collected fish double as currency for unlocking boats, purchasing per-run shields, and entering special modes. Fish Betting lets players wager before a run and double their stake on survival. Blitz Mode cranks speed to 2x and points to 5x behind a 30-second timer. New Waters is a prestige system that resets progression in exchange for a tiered crown badge. Power-ups include a magnet that pulls fish toward the boat and a goldfish multiplier that doubles scoring for 10 seconds.
The companion Apple Watch app runs an independent version of the game with haptic feedback, timed and endless modes, and its own boat progression. The iOS app ships with Game Center leaderboard integration, background music via AVAudioSession, onboarding flow, a custom animated death sequence, and score popup animations built entirely in SwiftUI.
